by the Gulf of Mexico tends to temper both summer and winter extremes. The

most people expect. Although the average rainfall ranges from 63 to 70 inches
per year, it is evenly distributed throughout the year and sunny skies prevail
most of the time. Rain is usually of the shower type with long periods of
continuous rain being rare.
Government: Managing
a community of nearly a half million people is not an easy task. It requires a
well-balanced governmental society. The city of Mobile is supervised by a
Mayor/ Council form of government. The Mayor and seven council members are
elected every four years from the city's districts. Each position carries a
four-year term with a provision allowing the mayor and council members to
succeed themselves. The mayor serves as chief executive officer responsible for
administration of city affairs. Council members handle legislative matters of
city government, including passage of new ordinances, contracts and
resolutions. The Council appoints all boards of the city that are not included
under the mayor's responsibilities. Mobile County is under the authority of a
commission form of government. It consists of three commissioners, also,
elected every four years. Because of the cooperation between city and county
governments, a well-rounded organization with excellent citizen representation
exists in Mobile and Mobile County.

one of the largest and most modern ports in the United States, the Alabama
State Docks can service thirty-three ocean-going vessels at one time. Mobile is
the gateway to over sixteen thousand miles of the nation's finest river
systems. A thirty-six mile channel with a forty-five foot depth allows service
to cargo ships. The Port of Mobile is currently the nation's leading port in
steel export and the largest forest product exporter on the Gulf Coast. Besides
shipping, seafoodis another principal industry of this import seaport,
employing over two thousand full-time fishermen. There are ten Mobile shipyards
that manufacture fishing vessels for the local fleet and for export. Alabama is
the second largest exporter of fishing vessels in the United States. Mobile is
a multi-industrytown. The industrial base is one of the strongest in the
Southeast. Major industries range from the traditional to the high tech, and

production.
The Mobile Commerce Park was specifically
designed to attract light industries which previously would not have been
interested in Mobile's traditionally heavy industrial areas. Mobile is a leader
in attracting new businesses and in holding promise for entrepreneurs.
Conventions and tourism are a major economic force, due in part to Mobile's
mild year-round climate, its natural beauty, easy access to Gulf beaches, and

Remodeling and Renovations >Show And Sell
Real estate agents are often asked "What is the best way to show and sell a home?" Almost every agent can tell you a story about meeting with a prospective seller who has just completed a lot of work to prepare their home for the market. It can be difficult for a real estate agent to tell the seller that their renovations were not the best changes to effectively market their home.
If you are considering making any improvements prior to selling your home, the best advice is to consult with your agent before you make any changes. An experienced real estate agent can provide you with information that can help you decide what kind of improvements will set the stage for a sale. Whether it is paint and wallpaper, remodeling the bathrooms, or updating the kitchen, your real estate agent can guide you toward "neutral" choices which can assist the buyer's imagination.
